Dr. Valerie Luong graduated from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in 2022. As a California native (fun fact: she graduated from Arroyo High School), she is grateful to be practicing close to her hometown community. In her downtime, Dr. Luong enjoys playing pickleball and spending time with her dogs, and she is a beginner gardener.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Having be told this past weekend that I need to get my first pair of readers and driving glasses at 52 years old. I was feeling a little unsure of what training wheels I should start with. I went into your store on 4th Street Berkley CA. I was lucky to fall into the care of your exceptional staff member Mimi. Who with the upmost diligence, empathy and expertise patiently guided me through a very comprehensive educational introduction to my eye health. Mimi, spent over an hour closely listening, evaluating and guiding me through this new chapter. Mimi, calmed all and any anxiety Mimi, is a huge asset for your company and made me feel listened too cared for resulting in the to ensuring that I get the best outcome. I walked out with 3 pairs of glasses not because I felt any kind of sales push. That was my decision. But because Mimi helped me to feel comfortable with your brand. It was very clear Mimi, genuinely cared about my eye health and through out my appointment it was clear that this was her primary objective. Mimi, is a real asset to your company.

Great experience again from Warby Parker Berkeley. Got a same day eye exam appointment online, checked in early and was seen early. They use the latest equipment and do reginal scans which I feel is an important part of a modern exam. Dr. Luong is fantastic, very thorough, good at explaining and efficient.

DO NOT MAKE AN APPT HERE!!! Very untrustworthy and make up their own rules as they go....... call customer service to be told that you can be seen and get there ON TIME and be refused!!.!?!? I HAVE NEVER in my entire life. I thought they were joking but NO, They were serious.......

THE WORST!!!! DO NOT MAKE AN APPT HERE!!!!! they claim to have a 5 min grace period ... i walked in at 5 on the dot and they refused to see me AFTER me calling and being told that it was fine as long as I was not more than 10 min late.....
I drove over an hour and a half for NOTHING!!! This place DOES NOT care about it its patients.....

I went to Warby Parker on April 30, 2026. I narrowed my choices of frames by going online and "trying on" styles that appealed to me. I went with the names of 4 styles for regular glasses, and 3 for sunglasses. I was quickly welcomed, and shared what I was looking to accomplish. Mimi, the representative, was very patient, understanding, helpful and knowledgeable. She answered my questions satisfactorily. I purchased 1 pair regular and 1 pair of sunglasses. My regular glasses will arrive in the mail May, 4. I am very happy with my experience, and will return if my prescription changes or just need new glasses.

Service was incredibly friendly and helpful, got glasses that looked better than anything at my optometrist. Was cheaper than what I would've gotten at my normal place, and was surprised that Warby Parker still could file for out-of-network claim to get the price down even more with an insurance refund check. Will definitely have to come back here for future pairs of glasses.

Bought my glasses from here and was told I could come in at anytime time to get them adjusted. Did just that, only to be told that they weren’t doing anymore adjustments for the day. The worker that told me this, literally said, “ I don’t know why”. Such a waste of my time.

High quality experience. Went in with slight reservations. Emerged very satisfied. Amazing doctor and floor associate. Caring, intelligent, professional, and incredibly helpful. I had a lot of questions about progressives, intermediates or computer glasses, frame choices, lens types and quality, etc and came away better informed on every key decision making element.
