Dr. Valerie Luong
Introduction
Dr. Valerie Luong is a state-licensed optometrist who graduated from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in 2022. Specializing in primary care optometry, Dr. Luong uses cutting-edge technology and clinical expertise to perform a comprehensive eye health exam—prescribing eyeglasses, fitting contact lenses, evaluating eye health, and more for patients ages 4 and up.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $35)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Warby Parker is such a gift to 4th Street! Where else can you find affordable, stylish served with a smile? Bonus points to Colin, Who went above and beyond to recommend different frames to us. He talked me out of buying a more expensive pair and showed me something he thought would look even better on me; if that's not stellar customer service, I don't know what it is.

Had a great experience: stylist was honest, engaged, and able to understand my style and approach to glasses based on a few shapes I had tried at home with the app. We quickly found the right pair. I think the key is finding someone you click with and trust. In the past I have had stylists who are too nice and don’t have the same skill to intuit my style goals and then I am left with having decide among too many pairs of glasses. I got lucky or WP is hiring better salespeople.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the new and updated designs and colors of the frames. It made choosing so much easier. Also, the salesperson, Gabriel, was very helpful and knowledgeable about finding wider frames. I was in and out of the shop in less than 30 minutes.

I had an eye exam on 11/21 and on 12/5 my (basic) new glasses haven’t even been sent yet. I paid for an exam here instead of getting one through Kaiser to get replacements sooner, but that was not money well spent. I haven’t heard from 4th St WP at all, but have talked to numerous people at WP customer service who don’t know what’s going on. I did think the optician was knowledgeable, but the rest of the experience has been really frustrating and disappointing. Will not return.

It was my first time coming to a Warby Parker store. I had purchased a pair of prescription eyeglasses a few years ago and loved the option of being able to try them on at home. I decided to try the store this time and I'd say overall my experience was great. They greeted me when I walked in and they gave me all the information I needed. They gave me space to browse but also would check up on me and ask me if I needed help with anything and when I decided on a pair, it was very easy to order and check out. The place was nice and clean and had a good atmosphere. Would recommend coming into this store.

The store leader Yolanda Kinchen was extremely rude and dismissive to me as a walk in for an eye glass repair. They quoted me for a 45 minute wait and after 1 1/2 hours, Yolanda said “the optician” is the only one who can do eyeglass repairs. I had to perform the service myself... The store mangers and floor staff at Warby Parker should be trained to know how to at least replace a screw for an eyeglass arm. I was so disappointed with this location’s customer service.

Great place to get affordable and stylish glasses. They also have an onsite optometrist for exams and conveniently get glasses aftereward. Personnel is very friendly, helpful. Collin who was a sales associate was awesome! He attended to my wife and I for probably about 2 hours as we purchased 3 pairs of glasses and handled all of our insurance and any applicable discounts. This review is solely based on my experiences repeatedly coming in to get glasses adjusted. Each time I get glasses adjusted here, the people working are not effective at providing a comfortable and relevant adjustment. It appears that they do not know how to do this task well. I have not been in this role, mind you, so I don't critique from any experience. But I know when someone is proficient or not. I am rarely, if ever, actually assessed to see how the glasses are fitting my face and thus that information isn't used in the adjustment process. It is infuriating. If I am in San Francisco and go to Hayes Valley location, the people working there are very effective and attentive. It feels like the people adjusting glasses here at Fourth Street are not attentive. We need better services as customer of Warby Parker.

Buyer Beware! Trying to get Warby Parker to fit your glasses after you receive them is an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. They may or may not have someone to do it and, if they do, the wait is at least an hour, usually more. You can't make an appointment or call to see how long the wait is at a given time or even get a schedule when they have "fitters" working. You see, they are counting on the fact you have spent so much time and money on your new glasses that you are willing to put up with this atrocious service that is so essential. If you want proper care after your initial purchase, go elsewhere.
