If you're looking for redundancy and uncommunicative staff, you've found the right place. I was asked three separate times whether I'd filled out their pre-visit form (once online and twice in-person when I was actually there for the exam). I already had but instead of actually looking they just felt like asking me twice in the store whether I'd filled it out (the third time was via text after I'd already sent it in.) When I arrived, someone barked my name like I was waiting for my coffee order and took me back to a dingy room that looked like a storage closet. She said she was a tech, which kind of confused me but, okay. She seemed annoyed by her chart and computer but was uncommunicative with me. I was told to lower the seat because I looked uncomfortable. She didn't say why or offer a height. She then mumbled something and I heard the words "the door" and she was pointing to the door so I got up, and then she told me, no sit back down, just look at the door. It was a blank white door to my left so I wasn't sure why I had to look at it but I complied. I was starting to feel like a test animal. I got some equipment handed to me which I felt like I needed to look through (no instruction or information) and she took it away. She then told me to put my chin on this other machine, which I also had done before, and I looked there and saw a blurry house. I thought she might ask me what I see but I didn't even know if she was doing anything because my eyes were looking at this blurry house, so I just closed my eyes to wait for some instruction. She told me to keep my eyes open. I heard her mumble faintly "okay" and didn't know what she meant by that but I took my head away. I guess that was the right thing to do. Then she said "You're all set." And I'm thinking, "huh?" I just said, "I'm all set?" And she kind of laughed and then said follow me. She led me back to the entrance area cashier at Warby Parker store and then left me standing there. A few moments later some other attendant asked if I was done with my eye exam. I told her I really have no idea, I don't know what that was, or what is going on. I'm just standing here. And then the tech came back and I immediately told her she's very uncommunicative. She said, "I'm so sorry." I said I had no idea what's going on and I've done eye exams before as I wear glasses. She said, "That was a pre-exam." I said, okay, okay. I don't know what that means but I'm done with you guys. I had reached my limit of tolerance of being a lab rat and walked out.
Today I have an appointment with an actual doctor and I hope they actually read their documents I send them and explain procedures and protocols because guess what, I do this one every 18 months, not every day, and as a technician your job is to inform the patient every step of the process and each assessment you're doing, as well as making them feel comfortable, not tolerate your frustrations as you grumble at your charts and screens and then as me if I'm "okay."
