Dr. Brian Yap
Introduction
Dr. Brian Yap is a state-licensed optometrist who graduated from the SUNY College of Optometry in 2008. Specializing in primary care optometry, Dr. Yap uses cutting-edge technology and clinical expertise to create a supportive, eye care environment—prescribing eyeglasses, fitting contact lenses, evaluating eye health, and more for patients ages 4 and up.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

I was able to get in with a little notice. I got a very professional exam with the top technology very pleasant people. I didn’t get a good exam and that I had a retina tear, but I would never have found that out if it weren’t for Warby Parker love these guys.

i went in needing a new pair of glasses because my old ones were getting worn out, and i had a really great experience. i worked with greg, who was especially helpful and knowledgeable. he took the time to help me find a pair that not only fit well but also framed my face in a flattering way. i never felt rushed, and his recommendations were thoughtful and tailored to what suited me best. i have received multiple compliments on my new specs already!
the space was clean and organized, and the lighting was spectacular. overall, i left feeling confident in my choice and genuinely happy with both the service and the experience. i will be back.

I usually find the teams at Warby Parker to be both friendly and super helpful. This location really deviates from the Warby Parker standard to such an extent I urge considering some of their other fantastic locations/teams at Union Station and Union Market. This location opened to replace the Shaw store closure and sadly something went awry in that transition. The team wasn’t helpful and both team members I engaged with had a really bad vibe. I go into other locations about once a month for routine maintenance, and they know exactly what I mean and want when I explain I’m there for an adjustment / TLC for my WPs frames from the trained professionals - and they’re always friendly, enthusiastic, and eager to get the fit as comfortable as possible. 14th? I got attitude and judgement after I told them I was there for routine TLC when they asked why I wanted the adjustment.

Shopping for regular prescription glasses and for prescription sunglasses at Warby Parker was great. It was super easy and fast because all the many types of frames they carry are sitting on lit up shelves along the store’s walls within easy reach and next to large mirrors hung on the walls between each set of shelves. It is so easy to try on frames in which you interested and see immediately how they look. They also carry regular, “wide” and often “extra wide” varieties of each style, which actually have big impact and appearance. I bought both regular prescription glasses and prescription sun glasses. I went to the WP store in the 1500 block of P Street NW in Washington DC. The two sales guys there were very helpful as they answered questions that U had and waited on me.

Checked out the new location on the last day to use my vision benefits on frames. They had a broad, well-organized selection. The staff were all friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They were familiar with my vision insurance, clarified my benefits, and filed everything with them directly. I was out of there in 20 minutes. Store atmosphere was clean, light, bright, and organized. Will definitely go here again.
