Our video-assisted exams are performed by a panel of state licensed remote doctors. An in-person optometric assistant will perform eye tests to assess your vision, and then one of our remote doctors will video call in to the exam room to complete your exam

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $35)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

I will start off this review by saying the customer service is good and the glasses selection is amazing. However, my experience seeing the doctor and trying to obtain a contacts prescription that actually works has been a nightmare. The WP service model makes it impossible to call the store. First, I had issues getting my trial contacts, which I understand was a supply issue that they can’t control, but still caused this process to be delayed off the bat and I took around a month. Then they inputted my new prescription as expired so it was unusable, which resulted in another trip to the store. I received no information on the doctor and cannot export my prescription off the app, so now I have no way to order the contacts else where, as required by my insurance. I really don’t want to make a fourth trip to the store and wish they had a direct line. I’m genuinely super frustrated with this experience and will not be returning for anything more than a retail purchase. Save yourself the headache!

“I live in Silver Spring, and technically it would be a much shorter drive for me to visit the Bethesda Warby Parker location (about 2 miles). But time and again, I choose to drive farther down into Northwest DC instead (about 6 miles). As someone who values both time and money, that choice is an investment — and the reason I make it is simple: customer service. I was there was on 10/04/2025.
Every single time I’ve walked into the Northwest DC store, I’ve felt welcomed. Today I purchased three prescription frames with blue-light coating and photochromic lenses (what many of us still call ‘transitionals’). I want to highlight how quickly I was greeted upon entering, how professional and kind the supervisor was in guiding the staff, and how carefully he reviewed my order line by line to make sure every detail was correct before finalizing it.
I first discovered this location back in 2017 after moving here, and I’ve been a repeat customer ever since. I even want to give kudos to the security officer on duty today — he was courteous, helpful in giving feedback on frames, and one of his picks ended up being one of the best.
In a world where good customer service can sometimes feel rare, I truly appreciate the positivity and professionalism of this team. Thank you, to the entire staff for making every visit worthwhile.

I’ve watched too many Warby Parker ads while watching love island to the point I came into the store. The shopping experience was just like the ads, I came in on 06/28 around 5:40 (not knowing they are closing soon) to try on the glasses I found online. The two ladies who helped me took the time to find the pairs of glasses and recommend which they would like to see me in. The service was outstanding -- I hate trying on glasses and the woman who assisted made it easy, helping me narrow the selection down to two pairs of glasses that look great on me. The price was significantly lower than other brick and mortar stores and the glasses will be delivered straight to my home. Final, the store is clean and uncluttered and a very short walk from the Metro.

I had the same issue i’ve had with warby parker in the recent two years or so. They are dodgy with insurance, which made it so I had to leave the store and come back to figure it out. They seemed eager to charge me the full amount rather than figure out the vision insurance that marks my out of pocket costs down by over 90%. The person helping me gave me inaccurate information and encouraged me to pay the full amount and submit for reimbursement, but when I contacted my insurance company they told me reimbursement would result in the insurance covering less. The Warby employees were mostly friendly though and it’s more of an issue with the company, not these individuals.
Also, they just take way too long to make the glasses. It’s been 8 days and they haven’t even shipped. I think this will likely be my last pair of Warby glasses.
The “itemized receipt” button on their website also was not working.

I had a great experience at my virtual exam, 2 doctors rotated in to talk to me. I learned so many things about my eyes that I didn't know before.
The problem was the prescription had the wrong contact brand on it. I didn't remember my brand and asked the technician to double check with my records since I've been coming to Warby Parker for years. That didn't happen.
I had my exam in October, I still cannot order my contact lenses because Warby Parker can't contact my virtual doctor to ask them to update my prescription. What a nightmare!
