We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Warby Parker used to be good years ago and now they are crap and actually more expensive than other places.
This location at Aventura mall has horrible customer service and is the reason why they’ve lost me for good as a customer. I’ve been a Warby Parker customer for 10+ years.
I decided to use their optometrist this time. She gave me the wrong prescription. After waiting two weeks to get the wrong glasses, it took another two weeks to get another appointment to get refitted. Then it took another two weeks to have the replacement shipped. All in all, I wasted 6 weeks when I could have just gone somewhere else and had the correct glasses in 2 weeks.
I was offered no apology or discount for the inconvenience. I was told by the person who helped me that I could purchase frames for $60 if I didn’t want to wait even longer to ship my old frames to them to have just the lenses replaced. Yet when I went back after getting the new lenses and getting them swapped into my old frames, they refused to return or refund me the cost of the new frames which I no longer needed. What am I supposed to do with a pair of lense-less frames? I asked the manager if he would just be willing to give me credit for the $60 so that I could put it towards my prescription sunglasses and contacts. He was rude, combative, snarky, condescending, and made the false claim that the lenses and frames are not priced separately, but together as a package. This is blatantly false since they advertise $95 FRAMES on their website. Anyway, I didn’t appreciate being talked down to by multiple employees at this store.
I was planning to come back for a contact lense exam $70, get my progressive sunglasses from them $445, and purchase contacts from them $1200, totaling $1715 of extra business I was going to give them, but after their outright refusal to do the right thing and refund the $60, I decided I would never give them another dime and will go to Costco instead.
If corporate is reading this, you should probably fire or retrain that manager as he’s neither good at customer service or business. Losing a customer of 10+ years over $60, who was ready to purchase another $1715 from you, that’s just an awful business model and decision.
If you’re thinking about going to Warby Parker, save yourself the hassle and go to Costco or Lens Crafters instead - they both have better customer service and actually accept your insurance. Warby Parker does not accept any common eye insurance, only one company they work with. So you’ll be paying out of pocket.

I had an amazing time getting new glasses, the team was so helpful and kind. Iliana was very supportive with all the questions I had about my eye exam, and my prescription. Steven was very kind, gave me great advise about the frame structure I need and the pain I was having from my old glasses. And Kyle had such a great energy also helping with my new glasses. I got glasses here a few months ago and everybody was super nice and helpful! I’ve broken them twice and both times they fixed them super quickly. This morning I went in with a bent hinge I was worried couldn’t be fixed and Scarlet and Emmanuel fixed it super quickly for me and were so kind about it!
