Dr. Salima Thanawala
Introduction
Dr. Salima Thanawala is a state-licensed optometrist who graduated from the Chicago College of Optometry (CCO) in 2023. Specializing in primary care optometry, Dr. Thanawala uses cutting-edge technology and clinical expertise to perform a comprehensive eye health exam—prescribing eyeglasses, fitting contact lenses, evaluating eye health, and more for patients ages 4 and up.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
The well-known portion of an eye exam where you read from a chart of progressively shrinking letters until they're too small to see
The part of the exam that determines your prescription for corrective lenses (if you need them)
A screening for issues like glaucoma and cataracts, and for signs of other health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and more
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Insurance, FSA, and HSA
Whether we’re in- or out-of-network with your carrier, you can use vision insurance to save at Warby Parker . (We accept FSA and HSA, too!)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Cheryl and my Eye doctor were amazing. Great customer service from both. No upselling pressure. And I was in and out quick! No waiting hours at a doctors office to even be seen by someone. In and out, got my prescription, ordered my glasses and contacts and was set to go. All at a reasonable price.
It’s going to be my go to place for eye care and wear!

The most important reason for the score I gave is the overall experience I had in the store. The store was clean, and everyone was friendly and professional from the moment I walked in. I had a difficult time choosing a pair of glasses because I prefer oversized frames, but my prescription limits the size I can purchase. I tried on multiple pairs and started to feel frustrated, but the team was extremely patient with me the entire time. They could see that I was getting frustrated, yet they remained calm and supportive. They did not feed off my energy; instead, they took the time to explain in a way I could understand why a smaller frame would be the best option for my prescription. In the end, I chose a pair that I was happy with, even though it was not my original first choice. Their patience, professionalism, and willingness to educate me made the experience a positive one.

I ordered two glasses for almost $800 prescription glasses glasses that they made instead of progressive bi focal Seems like they made up and lower side the wrong way and it gives a really bad headache. I asked the person at the store to make it progressive but seems like they have done it the way they want it not thinking about what customer wants. now I have to go back spend time and get this crap Correctly done again

Jesenia was extremely helpful, and genuinely cared about finding what worked best for me. My situation was a bit particular, with an unusual combination of myopia and hyperopia, so finding the perfect power/prescription balance was tricky. Like threading a needle. Jesenia and the staff were very patient, replacing the lens on a couple occasions until it was just right. I now have two Parkers, and will likely have several more as I age. Customer for life. What a wonderful experience getting my eye exam with Ashley and shopping for frames with Veena (sorry if I got the spelling wrong!). Everyone was so pleasant and patient with me, and I got my perfect frames (and contacts) delivered right to my house a week later! Warby Parker was a discovery for me that changed the whole ordeal of eye care and glass selecting ! Asia is the most competent manager in an eye store I’ve ever met. She has professional knowledgeable answers to all concerns and selected quickly yet correctly everything I needed. She even added in a pair of tinted driving glasses that quite honestly is a game changer for me driving on roads either high beams and poor street lights ( island living !) I will only go to Warby Parker from now on. I saved 15% and they ship ! Who doesn’t love to be served so well especially in a day of such constant technology human service is rare and caring patient efficient human service is even more rare ! Save yourselves stress !!
