Dr. Luke Derango
Introduction
Dr. Luke Derango graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2008. As an Illinois native (fun fact: he graduated from LaSalle Peru High School), he is grateful to be practicing close to his hometown community. In his downtime, Dr. Derango enjoys live music, watching the Montréal Canadiens, and going snowboarding.

Illinois College of Optometry (ICO)
Comprehensive exams starting at $85
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Bri and Eric to the rescue! I normally go to the Southport location but I had to be in the loop for some appointments and errands, and did a stupid thing. I took off in a hurry from home wearing my computer glasses which are pretty much useless for seeing anything more than about 10 feet away. I didn't realize what I'd done until I arrived downtown, and didn't have time to go all the way back home in Uptown without missing my appointment. So I took a chance and stopped in to the Gold Coast location to see if they might have a pair of contacts in my prescription to get me through a few hours. With no appointment I waited only a few minutes and was greeted by Bri then helped by Eric who saved the day and provided me with an emergency set of contacts. They were friendly and helpful, and I was on my way within a few minutes able to see again. Great success!

INCREDIBLE styling advice from Kimberly! I had gone to the store to exchange my glasses since the ones I had picked out ultimately did not look good on me and Kimberly instantly found what I needed without even being prompted. Her artistic nature took in my features and knew I needed something low contrast. The glasses she picked out glasses I normally would have never gravitated to but they ended up looking PERFECT on my face. SUPER grateful for her help and highly recommend others lean on her guidance to look their best 😁

This WP is awesome. As soon as I walked in on a crazy cold day, I was greeted right away and Jillian helped me through the entire process. The doctor was very caring and resourceful then Jillian again hopped back in with some great recommendations, still keeping it very friendly, warm, sincere. I love my Warby Parker glasses. Recently, had to return to the store to inquiry about a lens repair. The initial attendant was meh and nice enough. She couldn't see the defect I had and said I had scratches which I didn't. I said I just need to clean them. Anyway, her whole vibe was flazéda. The five stars are going to Josiah. First, the name LOVE IT. Josiah stopped me as I was leaving and said, " do mind if I clean your glasses?" I was like YEEESSSS and thank you! After driving all day and the lackluster experience with his counter-part, that small gesture really brighten my day to know that there are still kind people with good old fashion customer service. Only work with Josiah. Kudos to him!
