Dr. Luke Derango
Introduction
Dr. Luke Derango graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2008. As an Illinois native (fun fact: he graduated from LaSalle Peru High School), he is grateful to be practicing close to his hometown community. In his downtime, Dr. Derango enjoys live music, watching the Montréal Canadiens, and going snowboarding.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

It was a lose lose with them…I’m visiting from VA and forget my contacts so call to see if I can get a trial/sample pack. When the employee first answers the phone I say what I’m trying to do and make clear that I’m visiting from out of town and am a customer. She verifies my email and full address (confirming what I told her). She puts me on hold, comes back and says they can’t give them to me. I say I wasn’t expecting that and that I’d pay for them. She says they only give to clients that get contacts exams. I say okay I can pay for an exam (I’d just bought contacts from Warby Parker in May and my prescription was current which was also something she saw on her end). She says even if I get an exam there’s no guarantee they’ll have my contacts. I think to myself but you have my prescription to check so I end the call shortly after…I was trying to work with what seemed like a policy but they weren’t trying to help me at all.

Went to the Gold Coast store on State Street for an eye exam and to select glasses. The doctor who conducted the exam was thorough and took the time to explain as the exam progressed. Afterwards, the customer support person did an excellent job at helping to select just the right frames. In fact, she found two frames that really were perfect. Thanks for the very positive experience.

The nose-buds on my eyeglasses frames were deteriorating and driving me nuts!! 👃
I got off work and got to Warby Parker's Gold Coast store just before they closed.
Carolina and Jacob were there and jumped right into action and replaced the nosebuds.
Thanks so much - my nose is now nice and comfy.

I have come into this store excited to buy a pair of glasses on two occasions and received zero help. I am a previous owner of warby parker glasses and enjoy them - I wanted a different pair and have stopped twice at this location and not even one associate has taken the time to say hello or help me. Beyond disappointing I urge customers to look at any other location than this one in gold coast

My review is about the quality of the glasses. They are the worst quality I've ever had. My previous pair from here were fine and lasted for more than a few years. The new glasses I ordered are so poorly made, I'm returning them. The lenses are loose on both pairs. On one pair, both lenses are loose and the frames are smaller than what I tried on in the store. Also, they make a creaking noise when I wear them, as if they're going to fall apart. The other pair (sunglasses) is much bigger than what was in the store. I know I can get them adjusted, but I don't even want them because one lens is loose. The lenses on my old pair have never been loose, though they've become quite scratched over the years. The quality is poor, and I'm going elsewhere to purchase glasses, even though they might be more expensive (though I spent a lot of money here for both pairs). I would only keep them if I got a total refund. And when I went to the store to demonstrate how the lenses were loose and the glasses were not structurally sound, the person working there did not believe me and argued with me. I have worn glasses for decades, and I have never had such an overall negative experience: condescending treatment in addition to glasses that aren't manufactured correctly.

The staff was courteous while I waited for my eye exam. Luke, the optometrist, was excellent. He was friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable about my vision issue, which he explained clearly and in terms I could easily understand. Because I needed a referral to an ophthalmologist, he provided a comprehensive list of specialists I could contact for further evaluation. The exam was thorough and offered great value. Luke is a credit to Warby Parker. Although I wasn’t able to purchase glasses during this visit, I plan to return to do so. I will definitely return for future exams.

I went here to look for contacts and ended up finding 2 pairs of glasses I love!! And for cheaper than 1 pair of glasses at my normal place. But more important than that. The 2 gals who work there are AMAZING!! They helped me and never made me feel stupid for the millions of questions I had. I’m from Montana and would come back here if I ever need new glasses.

Eric @ the Gold Coast Chicago location was AMAZING! His attention to detail, knowledge of products & courteous demeanor made our visit very pleasant. The store was busy. He was so very helpful. We were a family of 3 & bought several frames. Sunglasses, readers & 2 prescription glasses. Eric made our purchases simple, and even recommended an eye exam later in the day so our daughter could get her new glasses that she needed! His customer service was incredible!
