Dr. Laura Boyd graduated from the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2017. In addition to her optometry degree, she completed a residency at the Illinois College of Optometry and specialized in pediatrics and binocular vision. Dr. Boyd is proud to be a member of the Illinois Optometric Association. In her downtime, she enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and hanging out with her husband and son.

We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.

What is included in a comprehensive eye exam?
Visual Acuity Test
The well-known portion of an eye exam where you read from a chart of progressively shrinking letters until they're too small to see
Refraction
The part of the exam that determines your prescription for corrective lenses (if you need them)
Eye health check
A screening for issues like glaucoma and cataracts, and for signs of other health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and more
Digital retinal Imaging
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $35)
