Dr. Ricardo Ayala
Introduction
Dr. Ricardo Ayala graduated from the Chicago College of Optometry (CCO) in 2023 Dr. Ayala is proud to be a member of the Illinois Optometric Association. As an Illinois native (fun fact: he graduated from Plainfield South High School) he is grateful to be practicing close to his hometown community. In his downtime, Dr. Ayala enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with his wife and his dog, Daisy.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Such a great experience at the Oak Brook location! Harrison was such a great help and he really made our first time at Warby Parker positive and successful. I purchased a really pretty pair of glasses and felt confident in my purchase because of how knowledgeable and professional Harrison was when helping me with finding the right size and shape of frames. Added bonus... they were MUCH more affordable (and way cuter and more high-end looking!) than any pair of glasses that I have bought through my optometrist's office.

I've been to this Warby Parker location many times, and have been a long-time customer in general, but my most recent visit there really highlighted the kind of people that work for this company. Just days after placing a new glasses order for my younger daughter who is completely reliant on her glasses, her existing frame broke. The new glasses aren't scheduled to be delivered for another week or two. We have a backup pair just in case, but it's a slightly outdated prescription, which is no fun to wear when you're 10 years old - headaches, frustration, etc. Thinking she had to deal with this situation for a few weeks was understandably upsetting. One call to the Warby Parker store and Julian came to the rescue. They confirmed they had the same frame in stock at the store and could quickly swap out her lenses. Good as new in 5 minutes! As much as the process was quick and easy, what really stood out was the care and empathy they showed all along. Great people, great service. I'll be back again in the future.

My glasses were set to be delivered in two weeks. When I did not get an update, I called, and was told they were being remade for quality assurance and would be an additional two weeks. I asked if the shipping could be expedited and was told no, and was also told no discounts on future orders, rebates, etc would be provided as well. It’s simply unprofessional to make the customer have to call to check in, and to not even expedite shipping. If it were a few days it wouldn’t be a big deal, but this is twice the initial delivery time.

I've always wanted to try WP glasses and to my surprise, my local optometrist selection cost way more than WP for transition lenses after including an in network insurance plan. So off I go to visit my local WP. I went to the store with my prescription and Natalie helped me out and took care of everything for me and had me in and out of the shop less than 30 min. She made sure my prescription was entered and even helped me submit a claim for my out of network insurance plan. She asked the right questions and took my pupillary distance measurements. She was great when helping me get my order in. Then I was Merrily in my way, she said it would be ready in a couple of weeks. Fast forward to pickup day, everything was perfect and am very happy with my choice. I'll definitely come back and get some shades next time. I got the Bodie medium in turquoise. Love it.
