Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Wow! Is the first thing that comes to mind. Dr. Debbie Klesken was very thorough, explained everything and did not rush me. Tori and Precious helped me pick out my frames, they were both extremely helpful, kind and patient. I was really looking forward to my first visit with Warby Parker, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. My eye exam was canceled only 30 minutes before my appointment, while I was already on my way. This kind of last-minute notice felt very unprofessional and inconvenient, especially as a first-time customer.
I understand that unexpected things can happen, but better communication and customer care would have made a big difference. I truly hope Warby Parker can improve their scheduling and notification process moving forward.

Loved my time at Warby Parker!! From the very beginning, I could tell that my experience was going to be incredible. I came with a (long!) list of glasses that I wanted to try on and Tori was quick to offer to find them while I got my eye exam done (so efficient and considerate!). Dr. Klesken was fantastic, she is so friendly and informative - I loved meeting her!
After my exam, I had tons of fun finding the best 2 pairs with Tori. Once I got my glasses delivered, Chris helped me adjust both pairs so they fit comfortably - super patient and detail oriented. Precious is amazing too! This entire team is by far the best. I've been to their West Loop location, but honestly this Willowbrook team makes you feel right at home. No ego, just a wonderful experience with people who really care and make you feel comfortable.
