Dr. Kola Akintayo is a state-licensed optometrist who graduated from the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2022. Specializing in primary care optometry, Dr. Akintayo uses cutting-edge technology and clinical expertise to perform a comprehensive eye health exam—prescribing eyeglasses, fitting contact lenses, evaluating eye health, and more for patients ages 4 and up.

Comprehensive exams starting at $95
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $39)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

My first time here- I knew I was overdue for an exam, that my insurance wasn't going to cover a thing, and that I just needed high-quality care. I got that here.
These wonderful ladies watched my little puppy due to a miscommunication error about bringing her to my exam, and they were incredibly friendly and helpful to me and her. I am very grateful for how clearly the doctor explained things and listened to my concerns, as well as the care shown in helping me place contact and glasses orders.
Yes, an exam here costs more than a Costco or an America's Best, but I feel it was worth it based on the service and grace I received here.
Particular shoutouts to the doctor and Baleigh, Nikia, Kimberly, and one other lovely lady I cannot remember (African-American, maybe 5'4", pretty long hair with ringlets and wire-rimmed glasses).

The staff and the optometrist, Dr. Adriana Esten, were all very helpful, friendly and professional. They answered all my questions and made the process of the eye exam and picking glasses that I could feel and look good in much less stressful - it was actually enjoyable! Unbelievable service! I had selected a range of frames from the internet from the internet after scheduling a same-day exam. I was pleasantly greeted, promptly guided to the exam even though I arrived early. The optometrist was delightful - young, skilled and with a friendly demeanor. I was guided back to my shopping where another young woman gathered every frame type and patiently walked through every pair. When a friend of mine recommended a slightly different look, the helpful staff gathered suggested options and again awaited my evaluation. I felt absolutely no pressure, was provided with comment when asked, and successfully guided to my decision. It was an awesome experience and Warby Parker Pike & Rose will have my business for as long as I need glasses! Thank you TEAM WP!

Doctor and staff were super friendly, and my eye exam efficient and accurate.
However, the bait-and-switch pricing wise is intentionally deceptive.
When you arrive they tell you the eye exam will be one price, but when calling and scheduling it the exam price quoted is about 30% lower, a substantial difference. This is because the staff add in an optional service without initially disclosing that. They just quote you the new price. When mentioning the price quoted initially when making the appointment is lower they THEN mentioned the additional cost was an optional service, then attempt to get you to still do it by saying they “may” have you sign a waiver declining it.
This isn’t the staff being deceptive; this is this companies business practice that has them do this. It still makes for a bad customer experience all of the same, and as such turned me off from buying glasses from them today and instead just getting my prescription at my originally quoted $95.

Engaging, professional, and efficient-easily the best optometry experience I’ve had. I can finally see clearly and move through my day with confidence.
After a year of struggling with an incorrect contact lens prescription from another provider, this was a complete turnaround. Within minutes, my doctor identified and corrected the issue with precision.
The Bethesda and Pike & Rose store teams were equally impressive-helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive, with the Bethesda team especially engaging. It would have been a one- stop shop had the Bethesda team included a Dr ( might be worth thinking about).
Outstanding service from start to finish. Highly recommended.
