Comprehensive exams starting at $85
We recommend an annual exam to help evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to ask an expert optometrist any eye-related questions.
A detailed image of the surface of your retina for the doctor to assess your eye health and check for conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachments (available at most locations for an additional $35)
Thankfully, no—we have newer methods for measuring intraocular pressure now.
It's best to have this information handy:
A list of any eye- or vision-related symptoms you're experiencing
An overview of your and your family's medical history
A list of medications you're taking (non-prescription medications included)
Your vision insurance information (if applicable)
Any questions you'd like to ask the eye doctor
You should also bring any corrective lenses you're currently using—glasses and contacts—and a pair of sunglasses to wear afterwards in case your eyes are dilated during your exam.
A comprehensive eye exam includes tests for visual acuity, refraction, and binocular vision, as well as a full ocular health assessment. A retinal exam may also be performed, sometimes requiring pupil dilation. Learn more about what to expect here.
We recommend getting an eye exam once a year to evaluate your vision, examine your eye health, and screen for other health issues. Other factors may influence how often you get an eye exam, including your age, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and if your medical history puts you at higher risk for eye diseases.
We're in-network with most major vision carriers, like UnitedHealthcare, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and some VSP plans. For other plans, like EyeMed and Cigna, we often work as an out-of-network carrier. (Not all optometrists accept all insurance plans. We can only confirm your coverage details during your visit.)
Glasses and contacts prescriptions typically expire one to two years after the prescription was written. This time frame may vary depending on your state's regulations and the risk of your vision changing more quickly.

Warby Parker is a great option for eyewear in Portsmouth. There's a nice selection of frames, the store is clean, well organized, and conveniently located with easy parking. The staff is friendly and professional. Licensed optician Annabelle was especially helpful. When two pairs of purchased glasses were problematic because the Rx was incorrect (ie, not Warby Parker's fault), she didn't hesitate to make it right. Thanks to her efforts the glasses were remade and quickly delivered. The service was excellent.

I went to warby Parker to get progressive lenses . I was afraid to try them because I have always had trouble driving at night and thought they would be a typical prescription. To my surprise I was able to see amazingly well everything was very sharp and clear. All I can say is going from not seeing to having detail and depth of vision in the dark is truly life changing. Simply put. They changed the prescription that my optometrist wrote. Trying to say it was similar to changing to generic. If my doctor says 10 mg, a pharmacist CANNOT change it to 5 or 15 mg. They CAN suggest the same drug that is cheaper. That's generic. And NOT try a similar drug. They altered the Rx, which is ILLEGAL in my State.
They processed a refund after I turned down a $300 additional fee to exactly follow the Rx.
I am very sure they will remember this once they read it.
With the exception of this event, the staff was great and the experience was satisfying. My partner had no issues as many customers seem to enjoy.
They just messed up with me.

Such a fun and easy experience at Warby Parker in Portsmouth! I was greeted right away and felt totally at ease browsing. When I was ready to order, it felt like chatting with a friend — she made it so simple. I tried on a few frames, handed over my prescription, and my glasses will be shipped to my house in about two weeks. Already told my husband he’s going next!
