I do not publicly post reviews unless I have enjoyed my experience or purchase with a company or organization or service. Warby Parker opened a brick and mortar retail shop in Highland Village, a very tony shopping area, similar to Rodeo Drive, in Houston several years ago. I was made aware of the store by the Peter Max-style sign on the storefront. Initially, as a nearly 80 year old married male who carefully budgets (out of of concern about the US economy rather than actual financial concerns) I thought it would be more expensive than I wanted.
However, after, disappointing craftsmanship by a leading etail eyeglass source that would not accept my vision insurance policy, I visited the website, and completed the questionnaire provided to input my insurance carrier (accepted), my prescription, and preferences for lens options and frames and got to explore different frames and looks online. When my spouse and I arrived at the store, we were able to park very near the entrance (rare in HV), the store was well-designed with a library-themed book collection on display throughout the public area, good interior lighting, and a sales staff person (Jorge) who immediately greeted us warmly and then, when I provided my name was able to immediately access the information, including my prescription from the company database. We selected several frames that we both liked that reflected my preference for multi-color frames. He eliminated the first because it was two narrow for my face. I then, put both of the frames we selected on my head and determined the centerpoint of my eyes, which, happily are not out of physical alignment. He explained the insurance coverage. My frames were under $150 in price and were fully covered by my insurance policy. The basic prescription was also covered (a surprise) so we were able to feel comfortable with the other options I wanted, progressive lens, variable darkening (within 5 second of exposure to light, blue light correction and lens color when in bright sunlight (dark grey)). Jorge was professional, patient, knowledgeable, explained the insurance coverage, turnaround time between order and receipt and the quickest delivery option. Terrific experience. And, honestly, a rarity in today's marketplace when high sales levels, profit margin and quick start to finish and low professionalism among sale personnel are the norm rather than the exception.
