The Summit

Excellent store with knowledgeable staff

Two stars because I found a pair I liked. Zero because I left without buying them after constant shrugging off by staff for better-dressed, better-looking customers. After leaving my church on Valleydale and listening to a sermon on Radical Acceptance, and after having a conversation about Radical Acceptance to help soothe my husband’s anxiety—this store’s staff, today on 10/6/24, right around opening at noon, reminded me why anxiety therapy remains a concept. If you look poor—or, God forbid, you are poor—you get treated like you’ve got nothing to spend. It’s too bad. They were the only eyeglass store open in the area, and I need prescription sunglasses to the point that I wasn’t desperate at all. I was an easy several-hundred-dollar sale. But your employees ignored me because my husband and I walked in wearing Carhartt and cutoffs. Never mind the iPhone 16 Pro Maxes in our hands, or my Cartiér wallet out and ready to show my vision insurance. We didn’t look the part of “The Summit”. It’s why you’ll be the way of Brookwood Mall, soon. You forget you’re still in Alabama, where the root of your money comes from, and that “us country folks” are the vast majority.

Just had a great all around experience at Warby Parker at The Summit and can’t wait to get my new glasses!
